Biography
Marcel van Helden, an emerging tenor renowned for his rich and dramatic voice, has captivated audiences with his performances on the operatic stage. He has portrayed iconic roles such as Rodolfo in La Bohème, Peter Quint & Prologue in The Turn of the Screw, and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni.
As a sought-after soloist, Marcel has collaborated with numerous choirs and orchestras throughout southern Ontario, performing classic works such as Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Rose Orchestra, Puccini's Missa di Gloria with Chorus Hamilton, and Handel's Messiah in various regional productions.
A graduate of Western University, Marcel holds a Master's degree and an Artist Diploma in vocal performance. In addition to his singing career, he has an undergraduate degree in physics and works at the University of Guelph's NMR Centre. He also serves as the chair of the board of directors for Grand River Opera.
