Plan Your Visit
Presenting Richard Wagner's complete Der Ring des Nibelungen is a milestone for Grand River Opera, Opera By Request and for Canadian operatic history. Because the Cycle unfolds over a full week with a day of rest between each performance, you will have time to enjoy all that the Region has to offer. Our venue is at the heart of Uptown Waterloo; a safe, highly walkable downtown core with diverse dining, independent shops, and green spaces.
The Venue & Accessibility
Performances take place at Knox Presbyterian Church (50 Erb St W, Waterloo). The building is fully accessible, with all public and performance spaces located on the ground floor.
Getting Here & Parking
If you are flying in, the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) is a short drive from the venue, while Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is roughly an hour away by car or airport shuttle. Locally, the ION Light Rail drops you just a short walk from the church at the Waterloo Public Square Station.
There is limited onsite parking available at the church itself. Fortunately, you will find ample parking directly across the street in the main Uptown Waterloo Town Square lot.
Dining & Intermissions
To accommodate the extended run times of Die Walküre, Siegfried, and Götterdämmerung, we have built in dedicated dinner breaks. We are currently finalizing exclusive dinner packages with local restaurant partners. Details and booking information will be announced soon.
For your days off or a quick pre-show meal, the immediate neighborhood has a fantastic culinary scene. You can browse nearby restaurants, cafes, and shops through the Uptown Waterloo BIA Directory .
Accommodations
The area offers plenty of options ranging from major hotels to local bed and breakfasts. Summer is a busy season in Waterloo Region, so we highly recommend booking your stay early. Check back for announcements on hotel partnerships.
